Martin Baker TYPE 2 MK1 Ejector Seat
The seat is in used condition. When I say “used” I mean the pilot ejected in this seat and survived !
The seat has come from a Hawker Hunter – Mk6 – G-BVVC crashed June 2003 and piloted by Craig Penrice.
The seat was recovered from the crash site in 2003 by the AAIB and released back to the aircraft owner after analysis. There is a lot of documentation regarding the crash and Craig Penrice online.
Craig Penrice was formerly an RAF pilot and had previously ejected from a lightening in 1985.
There is an informative clip of an interview with Craig Penrice discussing the ejection.
The seat is in used condition as shown in the pictures. The parachute and seat base are missing. There is a slight crease in the seat back at shoulder level but not noticeable. Some straps and control handles are still attached.
The seat comes with a metal plaque detailing its history.
This makes a fascinating display item with an interesting story.
